Kingdom HallThis blog is NOT about bashing Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Quite the opposite.

It’s about Christians loving Jehovah’s Witnesses enough to share the gospel with them effectively and show them from the Bible where the Watchtower organization is wrong.

How did I get started on this?

More than 40 years ago, two Jehovah’s Witnesses came to my door with Bibles in their hands. As a Christian, I decided to invite them in so I could talk with them about Jesus.

Things didn’t go well. Why not?

First, all I knew about them at that time was this:

  1. They went out in pairs witnessing from house to house.
  2. They promoted a magazine called The Watchtower.
  3. They would die rather than take a blood transfusion.

That’s it.

I didn’t even know that they professed to be Christians, let alone the only true Christians in the world.

Second, I didn’t know my Bible very well.

I had memorized perhaps a couple dozen verses over the years, but I had no idea how to respond to the Witnesses’ well-prepared presentation that challenged most of what I believed.

Third, no one would help me.

Other Christians told me Jehovah’s Witnesses were wrong on key teachings and that I should avoid them. But it took years before someone showed me from the Bible just why they were wrong or how to refute what they were saying.

Since those days, I have had an opportunity to converse with hundreds of Jehovah’s Witnesses and ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses. What they tell me is nearly always the same. In all their years of witnessing door-to-door, no Christian ever showed them from the Bible why the Watchtower is wrong. Most never even tried. Not surprisingly, this only served to convince them that the Watchtower is right.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, we owe it to Jehovah’s Witnesses to do better.

Or perhaps I should say that we owe it to the Lord to do better.

Imagine what it would be like if Jehovah’s Witnesses met prepared Christians whenever they came to the door? Prepared to do what? Prepared to share the gospel effectively. Prepared to defend Christian beliefs from the Bible. Prepared to speak the truth in love.

If you are a Christian, this means you.

You don’t have to seek Jehovah’s Witnesses out. You don’t have to become a missionary in order to go out and find them. I can almost guarantee that sometime within the next two years, two of them will come to your door.

The purpose of this blog is to equip you to talk with them effectively.

I will give you the benefit of my experience—both my successes and my failures.

I’ll give you a forum where you can share your experiences and get your questions answered. I’ll refer you to resources that can give you further information.

If you are a Jehovah’s Witness or someone with a Watchtower background, you’re welcome to participate. But this will be a place for you to get your sincere questions answered, not a place for you to preach the Watchtower message. You’re free to start your own blog where you can do that.

Maybe you’re wondering why just Jehovah’s Witnesses? Why not people of other religions or even atheists and agnostics?

There are other sites that do that, and if you aren’t satisfied with what’s out there, I encourage you to start your own.

This blog will concentrate on the one I know the most about—Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Your turn:

Have you tried to share the gospel with Jehovah’s Witnesses? If so, how did it go? What difficulties did you encounter?

Share your thoughts in the comments.
